Chandra Tal meaning the lake of the moon is situated at an altitude of 4300 meters in the Himalayan region of Spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh. The name of the lake orginates from it crescent shape.

Chandra Tal meaning the lake of the moon is situated at an altitude of 4300 meters in the Himalayan region of Spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh. The name of the lake orginates from it crescent shape. Due to it remote and high altitude location the lake is accessible only for about three to four months in a year (15 June to 15 September).  It is worth walking on the high himalays for three to four day to reach this emerald lake which keeps changing its colors throughout the day.
